Shark Week Is Back & I'm Making These Recipes To Celebrate

Cute AND scary? Yes please!

The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week starts this Sunday, July 20, and I’ve gotta admit—I’m stoked! Though I haven’t always watched in years past, there’s just something about this year that’s got me looking forward to it. Maybe it’s that Steven Spielburg’s Jaws is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, or that with our current political climate, sharks seem kind of fun and entertaining in comparison. Whatever the reason, you can definitely find me parked in front of the couch watching whatever wonders they’ve come up with this year (I saw something about a new program called “Dancing With Sharks?” What could that even be?!?). The only thing that could make the week better? Snacks and summery cocktails, of course, so I rounded up all of Delish’s adorable Shark Week-ready recipes. I plan to demolish a “shark-cuterie” board and probably throw back a few shark-infested waters—join me?

1

Deep Blue Vodka Punch

If Shark Week is basically your Christmas, then consider this our gift to you. Be sure to prepare the vanilla ice cream "lifesaver" well in advance so that it's fully frozen. As the ice cream melts, it will create foamy white waves, making the punch extra creamy. You just might need a bigger punch bowl.

Shark Week "Shark-cuterie" Board

A lot of our shark-themed recipes lean more sweet, and though we aren't complaining about enjoying a slice of our no-bake shark tank cheesecake or a sip of our deep blue vodka punch, sometimes we just want something savory. Enter: this shark-cuterie board.

What better way to celebrate Shark Week than with a killer (pun intended!) no-bake cheesecake?! This show-stopper is best served with a side of our shark- infested water cocktail for the ultimate summer celebration.

Shark-Infested Waters

This drink is simple—all you need is seltzer, lemonade, rum (thought tequila or vodka would also work!), and blue Curaçao—because the real schtick of this recipe is the gummy shark- "infested" ice cubes. Hot tip: keep a few extra in your freezer to bring joy to any drink.

This poke cake is hands down the easiest way to celebrate Shark Week. We kept things pretty simple, but you can feel free to have even more fun with it. This one's ALL about the wild and crazy decorations.

You only need 4 ingredients (5 if you count popsicle sticks) to make these adorable boozy lemonade pops. Feel free to swap the soda for seltzer water if you like. Not a fan of sharks? These will work with any gummies too!

Shark Attack Shots

These shark attack Jell-O shots are about as gory as it gets, and we're totally obsessed. The trick is getting the "blood" to spread in a convincing way. We found a sweet spot—between 20 and 30 minutes in the fridge is the perfect time to add food coloring to your shots.

We found that strawberry sauce was the best filling for these cupcakes, but strawberry jam works too! Just microwave it for a few seconds until it's pourable.

Shark Krispies Treats

Charlie Gillette

Sure, Rice Krispies treats are pretty unbeatable. But SHARK Krispies treats?! The best. Complete with a dip in white chocolate, sprinkles, and gummy sharks, these babies are Shark Week ready. Make your own Rice Krispies treats, or keep things simple (so you can get to the decorating all the faster!) and use the store-bought, pre-packaged kind.

If you can't watch a movie or tv marathon without a sweet or salty snack, this crunchy mix is for you. We used vanilla cupcake-flavored Goldfish, but feel free to swap if you can find other sweet options.
