You know what pairs the best with the great outdoors? A sweet treat. I mean, a dessert is always what Team Delish wants at the end of any meal, and it's especially the case when we're camping. Personally, a campfire is nothing if not the best way to cook up some of our favorite camping-friendly dessert recipes. And we're not just talking s'mores either. We've got all kinds of dessert ideas that range from the make-ahead, packable variety to the ones that get hot and bubbly over the fire. No matter where you pitch your tent this year, these 20 camping dessert recipes will make your camping trip all the more sweet!

We don't have the science to back this up per se, but food cooked over the fire just always tastes better. In our quest to always test the limits of the question "What can't we grill/roast?" we've found a few new favorites. As we've found, basically everything is better over the fire, like grilled peaches, campfire strawberries, and even campfire rice Krispies treats. Better yet, pop all your favorite dessert ingredients in a foil pack before placing it over the fire. We've experimented with berry crisp foil packs, chocolate marshmallow banana foil packs, and grilled apple pie foil packs, but we think the sky is the limit to what you can create over the fire.

Need a dessert ASAP? We get it. Sometimes the hike goes long or you're dog tired, in which case we love making packable desserts that are ready for when your sweet tooth comes out. A batch of Tagalong Mallomars, peanut butter pretzel butterscotch blondies, or puppy chow are some of our favorite break-in-case-of-snack-emergency treats and we think they'll become yours once you give them a try.

Campfire Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Krispies Treats never go out of style, and this toasted version is one of our new favorite ways to eat them. In order to get your treats nice and charred, they'll need a minute or two over the open fire. Make sure they were tightly packed into the baking dish before cutting; this will help keep them secure on your skewer while you're roasting. Using a double-pronged skewer helps too!
