27 Desserts Perfect For Two People

Share 'em with your sweetheart (or keep them all for yourself!).

Though we’re clearly all in on making huge, showstopping desserts, especially during the holiday season (have you seen our Christmas tree cake or our caramel apple cheesecake?!), we also recognize that sometimes, you just want a little sweet treat to share with one other person rather than a whole party. Whether you’re looking for something romantic (for Valentine’s, perhaps?) or just don’t want to be tempted by or have to find room to store a whole big cake (relatable!), these 27 desserts for two are just the thing.

Looking for something super-romantic? Our crème brûlée, our chocolate soufflé, our pineapple granita, or our panna cotta do take a tiny bit more effort than your average dessert, and are perfect for an extra-special date night. Alternatively, just because you’re wooing someone with these desserts doesn’t mean they should be stressful! Our chocolate-covered strawberries, our brownie in a mug, our Key lime pie mousse, and our mason jar ice cream are easy to make, don’t feel pretentious at all, and will still show how much you care.

Speaking of casual, we’ve also got some recipes here that don’t require a fancy plate, perfect for those nights you want to share a sweet treat while watching a movie or playing a board game. Our edible cookie dough, our Oreo cookie balls, and our chocolate pizza come together quickly, meaning you can quickly get back to what’s most important—spending time with your friend or loved one.

The best part of these recipes? Leftovers. We know, we know, many of these recipes make 4 to 6 servings. We’re all about having a little extra for the next time we’re craving something sweet (and definitely think that’s more manageable than the 12+ servings in a cake or pie!), but feel free to halve them if you need.

Want even more dessert inspiration? Check out our favorite no-bake desserts, our top warm desserts, and our best dessert cocktails too.

Oreo lovers, meet your new favorite dessert. These cookie balls are essentially just Oreo truffles. The not-too-sweet poaching liquid in this recipe features a star–and, no doubt, not cheap–ingredient: saffron. It gives the liquid and the pears a gorgeous sunny color that we think is worth it for this dish. If you want an affordable swap, use ground turmeric!
