For those of us that are lucky enough to find themselves in New Orleans this Mardi Gras (Tuesday, March 4, 2025), that means getting to eat beignets at Cafe Du Monde, grabbing a king cake from Randazzo’s, celebrating with a baked Alaska from Antoine's, and munching on pecan pralines from Aunt Sally’s. But what about those of us who are stuck at home this year? Don’t worry—you can still get that Big Easy experience, right from the comfort of your own kitchen. We’ve got recipes for all the classic sweets, with a few Southern-inspired treats thrown in for good measure. Check out our 25 Mardi Gras dessert recipes for ideas, then let those good times roll.

We’ve got all the aforementioned New Orleans specialties here, as well as paczki (or Fat Tuesday donuts, bananas foster, and moon pies (homemade is even better than the ones thrown from parade floats). Check out our sweet potato pie cupcakes, our pecan pie brownies, or our banana pudding cookies. Bonus: They’re portable, so no plates and silverware required.

Have a dessert you always make for parties but want to give it some Mardi Gras flair? All you’ve got to do is add some sprinkles in traditional Mardi Gras colors—gold for power, green for faith, and purple for justice. Check out our tie-dye cheesecake bars or our king cake truffles for ideas, but really, these colors will make any dessert Fat Tuesday party-ready.
