For six seasons, Game Of Thrones has been warning us that winter is coming. Well, Jon Snow better grab his furriest cape, because as the show gears up for its July 16th premiere (SPOILER AHEAD!), Winterfell is freezing over, and the White Walkers are well on their way.
It's only appropriate, then, that we pay homage to the only creatures more chilling than Cersei Lannister's withering glares with a frosty shot. Naturally, these drinks are served (mostly) frozen, with a vanilla milkshake base and a swirl of blue curacao, like the gleaming eyes of the Night King himself. The curacao may seem like an odd choice, but its orange flavor gives the drink a Creamsicle finish, so there's no burn — just an icy jolt that'll get you through every "OMG, I can't look ... and yet I can't look away" moment in the show.
And, just in case you're binge-watching the series to prep for the show — or you're hosting a watch party (in which case, make a double batch of these Dragon Fire wings too) — Managing Editor and raging pop culture expert Lindsey Ramsey has developed the perfect drinking game for you. Just make sure you take a sip for each of these rules, not a whole shot. Otherwise you'll never make it through an episode. Any episode.
The Game Of Thrones Drinking Game:
Whenever the following happens, take a drink!
- Someone says, "winter is coming"
- Dany gives a fiery speech
- Tyrion drinks (okay, maybe every other time)
- Jon Snow acts like an early 2000s emo kid
- Cersei talks about the glory of House Lannister
- Cersei references Joffrey
- Jon's referred to as a "bastard son"
- Tormund Giantsbane flirts with Brienne of Tarth
- Someone yells "you know nothing, Jon Snow" at the TV
Conquering a White Walker (shot) has never been easier.
