M&Ms, Chips Ahoy! Cookies, no-churn ice cream—this winter has been all about getting your hot cocoa fix any way you can. Fudge seemed like the logical next step, especially when it's this easy to make.
Seriously—it's just four ingredients, and you only need a microwave and a fridge to get the job done (no copper kettles or marble tables, like those artisanal fudge shops that charge $5 a bite).
The biggest challenge is finding micro marshmallows, like the kind that come in hot chocolate mixes. They're technically called "Marshmallow Bits," and you can buy them by the shaker-full (like you would grated Parmesan cheese) in most major grocery stores, usually by the ice cream sundae or cake decorating supplies, or on Amazon. Once you have these babies in your life, don't be surprised if you add a dash to every dessert.
Making this fudge is practically failure-proof (yes, even for those who swear they always burn break-and-bake cookie dough). It's just a matter of stirring a packet of hot chocolate mix with sweetened condensed milk, pouring it into a microwave-safe bowl with two cups of semisweet chocolate chips, and microwaving for one minute at a time, stirring in between, until the chips are fully melted and you've mixed the batter into a luscious chocolate sauce you want to drink out of the bowl (just us?).
Pour it into an 8-inch by 8-inch pan lined with parchment paper—so it's easy to pull out the fudge later and cut into squares—and stick it in the fridge to chill for a few hours, until it's set.
You may never realize how many friends you have until you bring a tray of these to work.
