Did you grow up on Chex Mix? I swear an evil genius created it. It's the perfect snack: crunchy, savory, and really salty. But no matter what anyone tries to say, the bagged stuff never lives up to homemade. Ever. But when you're making it for a crowd (which is really the only way to make it), the traditional microwave-stir method can get a little tricky. Enter the slow-cooker.
We already know the slow-cooker is a miracle worker for dip, soup, noodles, even apple cider. Now it's our favorite tool for recreating the childhood snack. Think about the level of genius: You dump all the ingredients in your slow-cooker, pour over a mixture of garlic powder-Worcestershire-melted butter, toss it altogether, and turn up the heat. Why this is so smart for parties: Friends can enjoy warm Chex Mix, which puts all other kinds to shame.
You will want to keep an eye on it, though: As you stir the mixture, you might have to add a little more melted butter if it seems too dry. If you want more of a bold savory flavor, up the garlic and onion powders. Love spice? A few dashes of hot sauce here is definitely a good idea.
