We've all been to enough holiday parties to know there's a certain place we hover around: the cheese board. We also know that if the past year or so has taught us anything, it's that the cheese board is just the beginning of possibilities when it comes to assembling a board for guests. We've turned French fries into a board (yes, really), s'mores, mini pies, and now cookies, which seems like a total no brainer for your holiday party.

Here's how to do it.

Pick your cookies.

You're going to want a mix of textures, colors, and flavors. We love making sure there's something chocolate-y, cinnamon-forward, fruity, and ultra colorful, like a pinwheel. A mix we love:

Don't bake all of them.

Consider this your permission to not have to bake, um, 20 different Christmas cookies. The best thing about the cookie board is variety, so save yourself a few trips to the oven and pick up some store-bought stuff to help round out the from-scratch options. Sweets to pick up from a bakery or the supermarket:

  • Peppermint bark
  • Candy canes
  • Chocolate truffles
  • Chocolate-filled wafers
  • Candies

Group them together.

There's no method to the arranging madness except for making sure that you group cookies together for visual intrigue—and to make sure the board doesn't look like a chaotic mess. You can always replenish the board as fan favorites disappear, so plan to put out a few of each cookie or treat depending on how many varieties you have.
