It probably won't surprise you that Guy Fieri has a chili recipe. Of course the Food Network star does! He has three, actually. What is surprising, however, is that Jimmy Fallon, the king of late night, has one.

JIMMY'S RECIPE

The host of The Tonight Show brings us a pretty straightforward chili recipe. His is made in a slow cooker, which allows all of the flavors to meld well. It takes 5 hours to cook, but while making it for Martha Stewart, he jokingly states that he just "leaves it on until [his] friends come over." The kidney beans go in during the last half-hour (when your friends are one their way?) and he has an interesting technique to mash some of the beans to add more thickness. I don't know how technically correct this is, but I get where he's going.

In terms of spice, there's not much going on. His recipe makes a very big batch (it calls for THREE POUNDS ground beef) and he only calls for half a habanero. Some of our tasters weren't heat seekers, so the lack of heat didn't bother them; others missed it.

GUY'S RECIPE

Guy's Texas-style chili is farrrr from basic. It has two different types of meat, three types of dried peppers, three types of fresh peppers, and no beans. The dried peppers are toasted in a skillet, then rehydrated with warm water and blended into a chili puree. While it makes his chili extremely oily, it also adds a ton of heat and flavor.

Also adding to the oiliness is that fact that he doesn't call for draining the grease from the THREE POUNDS of meat. I personally would recommend draining the grease after cooking the meat.

Speaking of excess, there's also a ton of liquid in Guy's. I was worried that our pot wasn't big enough! Luckily, after simmering for 2 hours, it reduced quite a bit. (Though it was still a little looser than we expect our chili.)

There's no denying that Guy's chili recipe is good, but most taste testers agreed that an entire bowl of the chili would be too much. It's a pretty heavy and spicy chili.

THE VERDICT

Guy wins! Most of our taste testers thought they liked Jimmy's...until they tried Guy's. Guy brought more punch, and in the end the spice won over our judges. Most agreed that his chili was a little too oily, but they could get over the grease. When it comes to chili the Delish teams wants some heat!
