Ramen can be looked at two ways: a delicious and complex Japanese soup, or a cheap dorm food. In this week’s snack down, our competitors represent both interpretations. If that’s not interesting enough for you, these recipes come from SIBLINGS! It’s Kardashian VS Jenner, and we are here for it. Both ladies bring very different cooking “techniques” to the table and both yield very surprising results. Read (and watch) on to see which television personality reigns supreme.

KYLIE’S RECIPE

To be honest, I would have assumed that Kylie never cooks. Actually, I’m still not fully convinced, as this “recipe” hardly qualifies as cooking. Back in 2016, Kylie posted a snapchat of her signature ramen (essentially a Top Ramen hack) and the internet went crazy. It goes like this: make ramen according to instructions, then stir in butter, garlic powder, and a scrambled egg. Not exactly groundbreaking, but adding butter to anything is never a bad idea.

KHLOE’S RECIPE

Khloé gets a bit more involved with her recipe. To start, we sautéed onions, garlic, and ginger until fragrant, and then added a boat-load of chicken broth. That simmers for 30 minutes before being strained. This is the foundation for the soup — sort of a ramen broth shortcut. Mushrooms and chicken are also sautéed before the broth is added back in to simmer a bit more. All this is ladled over fresh ramen noodles (no dehydrated noodles here!) and topped with a soft boiled egg and some green onions. This bowl of ramen looks a lot more like something you’d get at a restaurant and a lot less like something you’d eat at your desk under a Fight Club poster.

THE VERDICT

This one was a true upset. Kylie WINS! In the end, Khloé’s ramen just didn’t have enough flavor. I think everyone has a soft spot for instant ramen, and it this case, it won Kylie the gold. The butter added richness, the garlic powder punched up the flavor, and the egg gave the whole thing some substance. We approve, Kylie.
