At Delish, we’re all about making the holidays super-simple. So when we put two of our editors to the test to create the ultimate holiday-party spread, we added a twist to make things a little easier on them. Judged by editorial director Jo Saltz, the competition had food editor Brooke Caison and senior food editor Makinze Gore facing off to create a cocktail* and a charcuterie board—using only ingredients delivered from DoorDash, our virtual one-stop shop for all things holiday-entertaining.

Brooke’s menu? “Multiple different cheeses and a really stiff drink.” Her inspiration, she says, comes from hosting holidays with her chosen family, now that she lives far from her real one: “This is sort of a play on sitting around with all of my friends and drinking dirty martinis*.”

Makinze’s spread, meanwhile, is all about aesthetics: “I just want mine to be really cute, with some baked goods, and I’m thinking a cranberry spritz.” She’s always in charge of the cheese board during family gatherings—so she’s been training for this for a while. “Our goal every year is just to make it more over-the-top than the last.”

The common thread? DoorDash, of course. As Jo points out, “the little secret here is all the things that you had delivered.” Both competitors ordered their cheeses, cocktail components*, and even accessories like cocktail napkins from DoorDash, and everything arrived in under an hour. “But that’s between you and me—we don’t need to tell anybody about that,” Brooke jokes.

And the prizes? DoorDash gift cards, which never expire and apply to anything available on the app. From wrapping paper to last-minute gifts, you can order just about anything you might need for the season from DoorDash—and just as Brooke said, nobody has to know your little secret.
